On a daily level, we all negotiate. We bargain with friends, relatives, landlords, auto sellers, and employers, among others, on a personal level. Business success is also dependent on negotiation. Without profitable contracts, no company can thrive. Negotiation abilities within a firm can help you progress your career.

I hope you’ll join the hundreds of thousands of students who have helped make “Successful Negotiation” one of the most popular and well-rated MOOCs on the web. This course will cover the four steps necessary to conduct a successful negotiation:

(1) Preparation: Make a strategy for your negotiation.

(2) Successful Negotiation: Key Tactics

(3) Finish by making a contract.

(4) The End Game: Perform and Evaluate

You must accomplish the following tasks in order to pass this course and enhance your negotiating skills:

(1) Check out the quick videos (ranging from 5 to 20 minutes). The films are interactive, with questions to test your knowledge of negotiation strategy and techniques. You can adjust the speed of the movie to suit your listening preferences. You can view the videos over the course of a few weeks or binge-watch them, depending on your schedule. “It’s as good as Breaking Bad,” one pupil said after binge-watching the course. Another student likened the course to the television show “House of Cards.” Both shows include fascinating examples of difficult negotiations!

(2) Complete the negotiation in Module 6 to put your negotiating skills to the test. You can utilize Discussions to find a mate from another country or bargain with a local buddy. Your negotiator will provide you with feedback on your skills. I’ve created a number of free negotiating planning tools that are relevant to the course to assist you with your discussions. http://negotiationplanner.com/ includes these tools as well as a free app.

(3) Finish the exam. You must answer 80 percent of the questions correctly in order to pass the course. The exam is a Mastery Exam, which means you can take it as many times as you want until you understand the content completely.

It’s become second nature for many of us to take, share, and look at pictures on our phones and computers. This course will help you explore the meaning of photos and reevaluate photography’s place in our visual culture because of our near-constant involvement with images. It is the goal of this course to bridge the conceptual gap that exists between the act of looking at a photograph and knowing what it means to make an image.

Through the use of original films and audio interviews, you will get a close look at 100 images from the Museum of Modern Art’s collection as well as get a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum and artist studios. Photography has been utilized as a method of creative expression, a scientific tool, and a tool for exploration throughout its 180-year existence. It has also served as an instrument of documentation as well as a way to tell stories and chronicle histories. The context provided by the course’s short texts and readings from MoMA publications is reinforced.

Learn from our main instructor Sarah Meister and gain access to special MoMA resources by enrolling in this course. You’ll also join a global community of learners in discussion forums.

UPDATE: We’ve taken your suggestions to heart! When we relaunched Seeing Through Photographs in September 2020, we added new features like audio interviews with contemporary artists from all across the world, films of Sarah discussing key concepts and nearly twice as many photographs from the collection as we had before. The discussion forums have been expanded to provide you with more ways to share and receive feedback on your photos.

Computer Science: Programming with a Purpose

Offered by: Princeton University

543 ratings • 177 reviews

118,774 students already enrolled

The foundation of education in the previous millennium was “reading, writing, and arithmetic;” today, the foundation is “reading, writing, and computer science.” Programming is a crucial aspect of any student’s education, not only in the sciences and engineering but also in the arts, social sciences, and humanities, among other fields. Even if there are no immediate applications, it is the first step toward comprehending the nature of computer science’s obvious influence on the current world. This course covers the first half of our book Computer Science: An Interdisciplinary Approach, which is available on Amazon.com (the second half is covered in our Coursera course Computer Science: Algorithms, Theory, and Machines). In a scientific environment, we wish to teach programming to individuals who need or want to learn it, with the goal of making it more accessible.

We begin by covering the fundamentals of programming, including variables, conditionals, loops, arrays, and input/output (I/O). After that, we’ll talk about functions, where we’ll cover important concepts like recursion, modular programming, and code reuse. After that, we’ll go over a more up-to-date introduction to object-oriented programming.

We make use of the Java programming language and teach fundamental computational problem-solving abilities that are transferable to a wide range of modern computing settings… Although mastery of Java is a goal, we are more concerned with fundamental concepts in programming than with Java itself.

All of the features of this course are completely free of charge. It does not provide a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Introduction to User Experience Design

Offered by: Georgia Institute of Technology

4,889 ratings • 1,166 reviews

221,242 students already enrolled

In this course, the learner will be introduced to User Experience (UX) Design, which is the primary goal.

User Experience design is a type of design that is oriented toward the user. In order to do this, designers must create artifacts that enable users to meet their needs in the most effective, efficient, and satisfying way possible. Introduction to a cycle of discovery and evaluation, as well as a collection of strategies that are tailored to the user’s requirements, is provided in this course.

This course is intended for those who are new to the subject. It is intended for learners who have heard of the terms “user experience” and “user interface” design but who do not have a thorough understanding of these subjects.

In the course’s mantra, “Design is a systematic and data-driven process,” students learn that Design is systematic because it is founded on a set of methodologies as well as on a cycle of discovery, both of which are used in the process.

The four-step user interface design cycle is covered in this course, which is intended for beginners. While on their journey, learners are introduced to a set of strategies for gathering information regarding a) what the user requires, b) how to build and model interfaces based on this information, and lastly how to evaluate the design to ensure that the user’s objectives are achieved. We employ these strategies because they are instruments that can be applied in a consistent manner and provide us with the information we need for our design.

Thus, anyone (regardless of previous training) who is ready to learn these approaches and follow the recommended cycle can become a user experience designer!

Problem Solving, Python Programming, and Video Games

Offered by: University of Alberta

122 ratings • 35 reviews

30,188 students already enrolled

This course serves as an introduction to computer science and programming in the Python programming language. You will be able to do the following after successfully completing this course:

1. Using problem understanding and decomposition, design a plan to address a new computational challenge that has been introduced to you.
Design creation processes that comprise specifications, algorithms, and testing should be followed as well.
3. Create, test, and debug a Python application based on your design specifications.

Throughout the book, important computer science ideas such as problem-solving (computational thinking), issue decomposition, algorithms, abstraction, and software quality are stressed. In order to illustrate computer science principles in a clear and enjoyable manner, the Python programming language and video games are utilized. A learner, on the other hand, can apply the knowledge and abilities gained from this course to non-game situations, other programming languages, and other computer science courses.

You do not need any prior programming, Python, or video gaming knowledge to complete this course. Your success will be determined by your ability to use some computer abilities (e.g., mouse, keyboard, document editing), knowledge of algebra, attention to detail (as with many technical disciplines), and a “just give it a try” attitude. Even though video games are used as examples for all of the programming examples, PVG is not about computer games in general. Organizational Analysis

Offered by: Stanford University

This self-paced introduction course will teach you about several theories of organizational behavior and how to use them in real-world situations.

Organizations are collections of people who work together to achieve a common purpose. In today’s culture, organizations may be found almost everywhere. Some examples include universities, start-ups and schools, hospitals as well as non-profits, government agencies, corporations, restaurants, and grocery stores.

Many different types of organizations exist: they range in size from small start-ups to global conglomerates; they can have a variety of goals and tasks (some planned, some not); they are made up of individuals whose goals and motivations differ from those of the group; and, in order to succeed, they must work with other organizations while also dealing with environmental constraints. Organizational actors and the organization’s long-term existence often suffer as a result of this level of complexity.

We will utilize organizational theories in this course to look at how an organization works and how it may be handled most effectively. Theories of organizations focus on the form and environment of an organization, as well as the negotiation, production, and change processes that occur within it. These lenses help us make sense of new organizational conditions and acquire a better understanding of how individuals and groups behave. Most organizational problems are unique to the conditions and cannot be solved by simple rules of thumb, which is why theories are important for the analyst and manager. A toolkit of organizational theories will enable you to systematically identify important features of an organization and the events that are transforming it; choose a theoretical framework most applicable to the observed mode of organization, and use this theory in determining which actions will best reroute the organization in the desired direction.

To summarize, the course aims to familiarize students with a variety of real-world organizational phenomena, teach them diverse theoretical viewpoints that can clarify these phenomena, and have them apply what they’ve learned to actual examples. Students will be exposed to a variety of conceptual tools and negotiating strategies as a result of the course’s design, which actively bridges theory and practice.

  1. Thanks for sharing this useful list of coursera courses.

  2. You are welcome, Alexandra!

  3. Do we have to pay extra for getting the coursera certificate after completing the course?

  4. Hello Fernando, Yes you will have to pay an extra fee in order to get your certificate of completion from Coursera but fortunately the courses are completely free of charge and you can access the courses anytime you want to learn.

  5. Does coursera still provide financial aid for students who are unable to afford the fee for certifications?

    • Coursera offers a financial aid program that pays the whole cost of the course. All you have to do is click on the “request financial aid” page and explain your financial need as well as how learning the course will benefit you and others.

That is all they want; they will approve your application and grant you full access to the course.

If the specialization consists of four or five courses, you must apply for financial aid separately for each course, i.e. after completing each course, you must reapply for another course until the entire set of courses is completed.

Currently, Coursera does not finance concurrent enrollment in more than one course. Therefore, if you are currently enrolled in a course, you must either complete it or withdraw from it in order to apply for financial aid for the new course. I received financial assistance for two courses and easily completed them.
